# Credits

> Every call is paid in credits from one balance, shared by the API, MCP and CSV uploads. You only pay for what comes back.

## What each call costs

| Call | Cost | Not charged when |
| - | - | - |
| Find Mobile | **3 credits** when a mobile is returned | No mobile is found, or the lookup could not run |
| Check Number | **2 credits** for a number that gets a priority | The number could not be checked |
| Find Mobile with `check: true` | **5 credits** | No mobile is found. If the check cannot run, you pay 3 |
| Request history | **Free** | Always |

A1, A2, A3 and X all count as a priority. A number that comes back `unable_to_check` is never charged.

## Your balance

A new account starts with 500 free credits, once. If you subscribe, the ones you have not used stay in your balance beside your plan credits.

Standard is $500 a month for 5,000 credits. A top-up is 1,000 credits for $100, on a paid plan, and is used after your plan credits.

## How a charge works

**1. The balance is checked first**

If it cannot cover the whole call, you get a `402 insufficient_credits` and nothing is spent.

**2. The call runs**

A find looks for a mobile. A check reads the number's signals.

**3. You are charged for what came back**

The response says exactly what it cost in `credit_cost`.

> Retrying? Send the same `Idempotency-Key` and you are charged once however many times the request arrives.
